Local School Accounting/Internal Audit
The Local School Accounting / Internal Audit Department serves the local school bookkeepers in all facets of financial school operations. We provide training and support concerning the accounting software utilized by local schools and assistance with financial compliance issues in accordance with the Alabama State Department of Education and the State of Alabama Public Examiner's Office.
The Business and Finance Division established the internal audit function at the Central Office to further strengthen the internal controls already established in our local schools. One of our goals is to make the most efficient use of our available resources in order to provide a quality education for the students of Baldwin County.
If there are any specific areas of concern, please do not hesitate to call the Internal Audit Dept. at 580-1914 based at the Central Office.
An LSA Finance Manual for local school bookkeepers is available and updated regularly as changes occur in the system. The manual provides step-by-step instructions for new bookkeepers, as well as guidelines for general school operations. The 2009-2010 Chart of Accounts is also available for bookkeepers as a download. The Chart of Accounts used at the local school level is in direct accordance with the State Department of Education.
All Baldwin County Public Schools have converted from a DOS based financial software system to a windows based version, which serves as a more powerful and efficient tool to effectively account for our public resources. We diligently seek to improve our financial operations in order to utilize public funds in the most efficient manner possible.
