Mrs. Angie Swiger serves as the District 5 representative which encompasses Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and some areas of Elberta and Bon Secour. Mrs. Swiger has been a very active member of her community since moving to the area in 2003. She served for one year as secretary and two years as president of the Gulf Shores Middle School PTSO, and served for one year as secretary and two years as president of the Gulf Shores High School PTSO. She has also served on the Alabama Gulf Coast Education Foundation Board for three years, has participated in Gulf Shores' ACE Community Development Committee, and is a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. A Louisiana native, she attended Louisiana State University and pursued a degree in Business Marketing. She and her husband of nineteen years, David Swiger, later moved to Hoover, Alabama where they opened their own chain of clothing stores. After thirteen successful years, they sold their business and moved to Gulf Shores with their four children. Their children are Kristen Swiger, a Gulf Shores High School graduate currently studying Mass Communications at LSU, John-David Swiger, a Junior Honor student and member of the GSHS Varsity Football and Baseball team, Michael, a Freshman Honor Student and member of the GSHS Freshman Football team, and Joseph, a 7th grade Honor student at Gulf Shores Middle School and member of the GSMS Basketball team. Mrs. Swiger and her husband currently own Swiger & Company, Realtors where she serves as broker and they both practice real estate.
