Grade Promotion Requirements and Summer School
-
Students must pass for the year with a minimum 60 average in each of the 4 core subjects only: Math, Science, English, and Social Studies to be promoted to the next grade level. The annual average is the average of first and second semesters combined. Information about summer school eligibility, costs, and location is posted on the school website in late spring of each school year. No parental requests "to hold a student back"/retain are accepted at FMS. No student may turn 16 years of age in middle school and may therefore be age promoted per BCBOE policy. Students who have already repeated a grade in middle school and will not reach the age of 16 in middle school may be socially promoted to the next grade level at the discretion of the Principal.
FMS age promoted and socially promoted students are not recommended for summer school.
