Ms. Linda Grant
I believe that the teacher is responsible for providing guidelines to students; however, I also feel that students should have some input into class rules. Rules should be logical. the rules of my classroom are intended to reflect rules students will face later in life. It is my hope that my students will eventually find motivation in intrinsic sources rather than extrinsic sources.
I believe each student should enter the classroom with a clean slate. This gives students a choice to change a behavior pattern without having a past behavior infraction overshadow their decision for the day. All students, however, will be held accountable for their own actions.
I believe that implementation of various teaching strategies will benefit the whole child. As a teacher, I will respond to spontaneous teachable moments by remaining flexible. I will have well planned lessons to enhance classroom management. I will be ever mindful that children possess multiple intelligences and exhibit diverse learning styles, and I will remind students often that fair is not always equal.
Learning is a lifelong process for both students and teacher. I believe with patience and a sense of humor (my favorite), we can both get through almost anything.
I have a 25 year old daughter and a 28 year old son. I love to read, go to operas and plays, and am game for just about anything else...
Life is an adventure, and I'm glad teaching is part of it!
