MON., JUNE 01        GRADUATION PRACTICE (TBA)

     MON., JUNE 01        GRADUATION CEREMONY, 7:00 p.m.

We are working to determine who is planning to attend graduation and how to meet the needs of those attending.  Please use the this link to help us provide a safe and smooth graduation.  It is urgently important that we have this information on ALL Class of 2020 seniors.  Please take a moment now to complete this brief survey.

    Graduation Ceremony:

Plans are being made as quickly as possible for your graduation ceremony.  We will be posting information as plans become more well defined.  Ordinarily, we would have had a Senior class meeting by now to discuss all details.  Instead we will have to continue releasing information via this webpage, messaging, Facebook and calls to your homes.

Graduation Practice will, in all probability, be around 9:00 on Graduation Day, Monday, June 1.  It is mandatory.  Those who miss practice will not be allowed to walk at the ceremony that night.  After practice we will distribute your 4 guest tickets, photographer's order envelopes, report cards, and NHS stoles.  Qualifying seniors, those with an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher, can purchase honor cords for $11 cash.  More information will be forthcoming.  Stay tuned.

    Graduation Attire:

Girls: Sunday dress that is not longer than your gown, any color, not strapless.  Gold or taupe dress shoes, (no flip flops). There is a sample shoe color chart on the left side bar of this page.  Wear shoes that fit well and are comfortable.  Flats, pumps, wedges are best choices.  Spike heels are stronly discouraged.

Boys: White, button down, dress shirt, necktie, dark dress pants, (navy, black or dark brown, not khakis) and dark dress shoes, (no tennis shoes, sandals or inappropriate footwear).

    Rain Day Plan:

If our scheduled June 1st cermony is cancelled due to inclement weather, it will be rescheduled to Tuesday, June 2, 7:00 p.m.

Jim Owen Studios will photographs of seniors as they receive their diplomas.  Order envelopes will be distributed to seniors after practice along with other items.  A pricing chart can be found in the left column of this page.

Try on your gown ASAP to make sure that it fits.  If it does not, contact me.

Hang your gown, preferably in a humid or steamy area such as a bathroom, to allow the folds and wrinkles to relax.  Gowns can be steamed.  Ironing is an option.  NEVER place iron directly on fabric.  Use a warm, NEVER HOT, iron.  Turn gown inside out.  Place a clean PRESSING CLOTH, (pillowcase, hand towel or some other piece of fabric) BETWEEN THE IRON AND YOUR GOWN in order to keep from scorching or burning a hole in the gown.  Proceed with caution! (Use the same process to iron Stoles.)

DO NOT allow your gown to get WET.

DO NOT put your gown in the clothes dryer.

Special Note to Girls: Secure your collars to your gowns BEFORE graduation night.  Please watch the How to Attach Collars to Gowns tutorial on the left hand column of this page.

This page has been created to help seniors and their parents stay informed throughout the school year about matters pertaining to graduation.

During the 2019-2020 school year I will communicate with you by posting to the school's website and Facebook, sending emails, and texting using the REMIND program.

Seniors and their parents are asked to maintain current contact information with the school throughout the year and to visit www.daphnehs.com frequently to stay abreast of news.

Information regarding graduation can be easily accessed on the main page by clicking on the Senior 2020 Graduation Information button or the “Academics” tab and then “Graduation 2020” on the pull down menu.

Post will naturally increase as graduation nears.  I will maintain a running list of important dates and deadlines for quick reference which will often be accompanied by a brief entry farther down on the page.

The left-hand column of this page is where you will find documents containing additional information.  Please read them.

Feel free to email me, Ellen Marler, Graduation Coordinator, with questions or concerns, (emarler@bcbe.org).  I can also be contacted by phone (251) 626-8787 ext. 21016.  I am located in the library if you need to see me.

All Seniors and their parents should be absolutely certain to join Mrs. Dombrowski's REMIND group.  As you know, Mrs. Dombrowski is the Senior Councelor.  REMIND, a texting program, is the primary means by which she communicates news and information to you on a daily basis.  She has graciously agreed to send out communiques on my behalf, as well.  So, if you see anything that has my name on it, or graduation as the subject, please read it!  You will find instructions for joining Mrs. D's REMIND in a document in the left-hand column of this webpage.

ALL Dec. Grads and their parents are urged to make certain that you have joined Mrs. Dombrowski’s REMIND.  If you were already a participant as of 11/28, you will automatically be added to her REMIND group exclusively for Dec. Grads.  If, however, you had not yet joined her group, please refer to the document “REMIND FOR DEC GRADS”, also in the left hand column of this webpage, and follow the instructions to join now.  Remind will be one of the primary means by which we are able to get information to you.

Daphne High School has chosen the Balfour Company to provide seniors with all items necessary for graduation as well as other products and memorabilia.  Balfour contact information will remain posted on this page for your convenience.

Seniors who participate in the graduation ceremony MUST purchase their Cap & Gown from Balfour.
