    Dear Parents,

We wanted to take a moment to introduce ourselves.  Mendi Delgado and Gay Garafola will be sponsoring the Project Outreach club this year at Daphne Middle School.

My name is Mendi Delgado and I am happy to be starting my 23rd year in education.  This is an exciting time for me as I enter my second year at Daphne Middle School.  I have many years of experience working with students with disabilities.   A little background information about me, my family moved to Alabama at the start of the 2017 year.  We moved here from Lafayette, Indiana.  I attended Purdue University …Boiler UP! I completed my master’s degree at Ball State University.  I am a Special Education Teacher and I love my students.

I am Gay Garafola and I have been teaching for 18 years.  I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and returned to school to pursue my Teaching Certification in Secondary Math.  I have been Daphne Middle School Trojan for 13 years. I teach 8thgrade Math and Algebra 1.

Project Outreach was first started at Spanish Fort High School 13 years ago.  This is the start of year 4 for PO at Daphne Middle School. Project Outreach is a unique organization that strives to create genuine relationships between individuals with disabilities and their community.  We work on helping connect students with disabilities to their non-disabled peers for the better of them both.  Our vision is to spread the awareness and understanding of disabilities throughout the community.  We plan to do this by continuing this club, participating and /or hosting community wide events, and forming relationships through personal experiences.

We would like your permission to develop programs in our school.  With your help, we will help promote disability awareness throughout Baldwin County and beyond.

    Thank you,
