Leader in Me

What is a Leader in Me School?

  • A Leader in Me school believes in integrating and incorporating the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People into our daily routines and procedures to teach students how to become effective, future leaders.  At Foley Elementary, you will see students taking charge of their own learning, setting goals, prioritizing their day, and taking on leadership roles to live out the habits, building a deeper understanding for lifelong implementation.  Our teachers and staff model for students what it means to be an effective leader by being prepared and ready for the day, creating goals, tracking goals, and celebrating our wins.  We believe that being a leader is much more than being front and center, but something that is instilled in ourselves to ensure we lead by example and with integrity even when no one is looking.

Foley Elementary School became a Leader in Me Lighthouse School in the Spring of 2021.  Becoming a Lighthouse School is a major accomplishment and one that is earned through consistent implementation, visits by the Leader in Me review panel, and interviews with teachers, staff, students, parents, and community members to ensure we are practicing what we preach.  The journey does not stop once a school becomes a Lighthouse School, but merely begins with moving forward, implementing, training, and ensuring our habits remain consistent and grow over time.  Our focus this previous school year was incorporating Leader in Me into academics and family engagement.  We believe that learning and growing in different areas of need will positively impact our student's overall social and academic performance.
