Ms. Tara Cole Nagle
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year at SFMS!
I currently teach two sixth grade enrichment classes, Skills & Strategies and Current Events. In Skills and Strategies, it is my privilege to introduce units on goal-setting, organizational skills, reading and test-taking strategies, as well as an introduction to the 16 major career clusters and related occupations. For our career focus, we regularly invite interesting guest speakers: parents, community members and other experts in various fields are invited to set up an appointment to share their education, career paths, and real-world experiences.
Current Events classes are designed to increase the students' awareness of the world around them, primarily through the daily viewing and discussion of topics on Channel One News. Students enjoy developing and sharing their personal viewpoints on a variety of topics. They are engaged in meaningful conversations, "Four Corners" activities and written expression of their thoughts and opinions about current events in their country and in the world.
My prior experience in the classroom is vast and varied. Over the years, I have gained invaluable experience in both rural and inner-city settings, and have taught a variety of grade levels throughtout the years. I have also taught reading in the small-group setting in a school specifically designed to teach children with identified learning challenges such as Autism, ADHD and Aspergers' Syndrome.
Before coming to Baldwin County, I lived in southern Ohio. We love Baldwin County and we love our Spanish Fort family. GO TOROS!!
