    Midterm and Final Examinations for Secondary Schools (2019-2020)

    Midterm and Final Examination Policy, Grades 7-12:

    1. Each course offered will have a midterm and final
    2. The midterm exam will test all material taught during the first half of the cours
    3. The final exam will be comprehensive (covering the first and second halves of the course).

    5. In an effort to encourage students to do well on the fall and winter Scantron Performance Series tests, the ACAP, the Pre-ACT, the ACT, and the WorkKeys exam, exemptions from final examinations in core content courses can be earned if all waiver criteria are met.

    Exam Exemption Requirements For Students in 7th-8th Grades in ENGLISH and/or SOCIAL STUDIES:

    1. Students may be exempt from final exams in English if they meet or exceed their learning target in reading on the winter Scantron Performance Series test and have a “B” or higher end-of-the year grade in their English class, and
    2. Students may be exempt from final exams in Social Studies if they meet or exceed their learning target in reading on the winter Scantron Performance Series test and have a “B” or higher end- of-the year grade in their Social Studies class, and
    3. Students have no more than 3 total unexcused absences (beginning on the first day of school), and
    4. Students have no suspensions or expulsions.
    5. Students must complete all portions of the ACAP for current school year during the testing window.
    6. *Exceptions: All students who score in the 4thquartile in reading on the Scantron Performance Series winter test are exempt from final exams in English (unless items #3 , #4, and #5 are not met). All students who score in the 4th quartile in reading on the Scantron Performance Series winter test are exempt from final exams in Social Studies (unless items #3, #4, and #5 are not met).

    1. Students may be exempt from final exams in Math if they meet or exceed their learning target in math on the winter Scantron Performance Series test and have a “B” or higher end-of-the year grade in their Math class, and
    2. Students may be exempt from final exams in Science if they meet or exceed their learning target in math on the winter Scantron Performance Series test and have a “B” or higher end-of-the year grade in their Science class, and
