The Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program, ACAP, is Alabama’s high-stakes test for students in grades 3-8. The Math and English Language Arts ACAP is administered in April.
The Scantron Performance Series is a computer adaptive formative assessment that is administered three times per year for students in grades one and two and twice a year for students in grade three.
Finally, all students in grades K-2 are given the DIBELS Next assessment three times each year in the fall, winter, and spring. DIBELS stands for Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills. It measures how students are performing on critical reading skills necessary for successful beginning reading - phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency. Benchmark assessments are administered one student at a time and generally take 3 to 6 minutes. The score is an indicator of whether or not a student is on track for grade-level reading success by the end of 3rd grade.
