Degrees and Certifications:
Officer Mike Tomaso graduated from the South West Alabama Police Academy in 1995 and worked as a Juvenile Probation officer at Strickland Youth Center. In 1997 Officer Tomaso continued working with juveniles as a technology coordinator at Gulf Shores Middle School. Officer Tomaso later opened a successful martial arts school in Fairhope. There he taught hundreds of students as well as adults self defense. He trained law enforcement officers in the community. In 2012 Officer Tomaso reentered law enforcement as a Police Officer with the Mobile Airport Authority, later becoming a Police Detective for the Town of Mount Vernon, Al. Officer Tomaso now works for the Elberta Police Department as a School Resource Officer. Officer Tomaso has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in education.
Prior to his career in law enforcement, Officer Tomaso spent 8 years in the United States Marine Corps and was assigned to 3rd Force Reconnaissance Company / 4th SCAMP PLATOON as a Remote Sensor Operator. Officer Tomaso was the Primary Marksmanship Instructor for 3rd Force Reconnaissance Company and was responsible for instructing and qualifying Marines at the rifle range. While attached to 4th SCAMP PLATOON Officer Tomaso participated in Joint Drug Task Force operations along the U.S. Mexico border. Officer Tomaso’s platoon assisted the US Border Patrol in seizing large amounts of illegal drugs moving across the border.
Officer Tomaso has 40 years of martial arts experience and has taught thousands of students in the Baldwin County area. Officer Tomaso is a defensive tactics instructor for Elberta Police Department.
