Caroline Hollowell

Hello! My name is Caroline Hollowell, assistant principal of Fairhope West Elementary.  I served at Fairhope West as a literacy coach before moving into the role of assistant principal.  I also served as a Reading Specialist with the Alabama Reading Initiative, Reading Coach at J. Larry Newton School, 1st Grade teacher at Summerdale Elementary, Reading Recovery Teacher Leader in Mobile County, and 4th grade teacher in Birmingham.  I have been in education for 26+ years, and I love coming to work every day!

I grew up in Demopolis, Alabama and am a proud graduate of Demopolis High School. I completed by undergraduate degree from Samford University in Elementary Education.  Very shortly after graduation, I began work on my Master’s Degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Elementary Education.  After teaching for five years, I returned to UAB to earn a Reading Specialist Certificate and became a Reading Recovery Teacher Leader.  I earned my certificate as an Education Administrator from the University of West Alabama.

I have lived in Fairhope since 2000 and am married to Ralph Hollowell. We have two daughters.  Martha will be a junior at Mississippi College and will graduate in Bio-Chemistry. My youngest daughter, Mary Elizabeth, is a Freshman at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia and plans to study biology.

I love spending time with family and friends, visiting around the pool, putting together puzzles, doing volunteer work in the community and church, and relaxing at the beach. My family has attended 3Circle Church in Fairhope for 19 years.

I have been Baldwin Proud for 20+ years and love working in a school district that is dedicated to excellence in education.  Fairhope West Elementary is a special place that empowers the genius of both students and teachers.
