Library Books
  • Student Circulation Policies

    2023-2024 Student Circulation Policy

    • Kindergarten students can check out one book every time their class comes for their library time and when their teacher signs them up to bring them to do checkouts only.
    • 1st-6th grade students can check out one book at a time for a period of two weeks. Students can check out books when they come for their assigned library time, when their teacher signs their class up to come for checkout, and/or when they come individually with a library pass. Books can be renewed once; of course, exceptions can be made depending on the situation.
    • Students cannot check out a new book until their late book is returned.
    • Overdue notices are printed once a month and placed in teacher boxes for teachers to distribute.
    • Students are not charged fines for overdue books.
    • They are charged fines for damaged books. These fines include:
      • Lost Book: Price of the book
      • Cover missing: Price of the book
      • Broken cover: Price of the book
      • Writing on cover: Price of the book
      • Missing page: Price of the book
      • Writing on pages: $0.10 per page up to the price of the book
      • Torn pages: $0.15 per page up to the price of the book
      • Crayon/Ink blotted pages: $1.00 per page up to the price of the book
      • Food/Drink spills: $1.00 per page up to the price of the book
    • Any lost or damaged book must be paid for, either by cash, check, or MySchoolBucks, before a student can check out another book. Checks are made payable to Elsanor Elementary School.
    • At no time will a student be charged more than the cost of replacing the book at the original price.
    • If a student pays for a book and then finds it within the same school year, the book needs to be returned to the library and the student will receive a refund through the school bookkeeper. We would much rather have our library book than have the money!
