We would like to introduce ourselves to you as the members of the Guidance Department at Elberta High School. The department is made up of the 11th and 12th grade counselor, Laura Alms, the school social worker, Alexandra Lee, and 9th and 10th grade counselor, Mary Rosene. This letter will serve the purpose of informing parents of our roles and the resources we will provide to your students at Elberta High School.
I am Laura Alms, 11th and 12th grade counselor, my primary responsibility is to promote the academic, personal, and social development of all students. I look forward to offering support to the students, staff, families, and community. I will be meeting with students individually, in small groups, and in large group classroom settings as we explore career opportunities and deepen their awareness of the need to avoid harmful choices and the benefits of making healthy and wise decisions during this extremely exciting time in their lives. Another huge focus when working with high school students is continually checking transcript accuracy and encouraging students to enroll in classes that relate to their future goals.
I am Alexandra Lee, the school social worker. I am a new resource to Elberta High School and my primary role is to help students overcome any barriers interfering with their learning and education. I will work with students, parents, teachers, administration, and Mrs. Alms to address social, emotional, mental health, and other physical needs that may be interfering with student’s ability to reach their full potential as students. I will set students up with needed resources through school and community resources. I will spend time one on one and in the group setting with students addressing the issues that high school students are facing during this time in their lives and providing them with education about the consequences of their choices.
I am Mary Rosene, I am the 9th and 10th grade counselor at EHS. I am here to support students and families however I can. I enjoy working with students to set goals for their future and work alongside of them as they strive to reach their dreams. I can help with academic concerns, college and career preparation, and personal/social issues. Please feel free to reach out if I can assist you or your family. At EHS, we are huge advocates for encouraging students to find their niche and become involved in school activities outside of the classroom. Research indicates that students benefit academically from extracurricular activities. They also may enjoy school on a higher level than peers who are not involved outside of the classroom.
We also work with teachers, staff, and community organizations to benefit and meet the needs of students and families. We are available to meet with parents to provide support and resources as we work together to create the educational path that best fits the needs of our students.
We will be sharing important information with students through their Class of 20-___ Counselor Information (Google Classroom). We will also be using the mass email system to keep parents informed about upcoming opportunities and deadlines.
If you need to contact us, please email us at email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org, and email@example.com or call at 251-986-8284. See the Warrior’s Guidance Department at https://www.bcbe.org/elbertahigh for additional information and resources.
