Mrs. Christi Knepton, 7th Grade Social Studies

My name is Christi Knepton and I teach 7th Grade Civics and Geography at Fairhope Middle School

I have always wanted to be a teacher for as far back as I can remember!  When I was very young I used to stand in my front yard, packed lunchbox in hand, watching the older kids walk to the bus stop at the end of our street.  When the bus left our street, I would sadly walk back inside my house.  At age 10 I would drag my chalkboard to our front porch, to teach our new neighbors from New Jersey, how to speak "southern."

I have been at Fairhope Middle School for 24 years as: a mom, substitute teacher, paraprofessional, and teacher.  My own children both attended Fairhope Middle School.  For the past 4 years, I have had the honor of teaching some of my former students' children.

I graduated from the University of South Alabama and was hired by the Baldwin County Board of Education a month later.

I believe in cooperative learning. I know that each child in the group brings a strength. I believe students should have free time in the afternoons and weekends to discover their interests and talents; to get bored to develop their imaginations.

I LOVE to cook. I also like to play with the three little kids who have made me their "adopted" grandmother, “Crickey."
