Professional Development
Professional development (PD) is the continuous process of improving teachers' skills, knowledge, and abilities to ensure they’re up-to-date with the latest teaching techniques and educational trends. Professional development is essential for teachers to provide their students with the best possible education and positively impact the educational system as a whole.
Baldwin County Public Schools (BCBE) professional development is coordinated from the BCBE Central Office Satellite office located at 1091 B Avenue, Loxley, AL. For more information or questions please reach out to Cynthia Lee.
Training can include workshops, seminars, and mentoring focused on new teaching strategies, curriculum updates, and student data analysis to ultimately boost student achievement.
PD is delivered in several ways depending on the district's budget and goals:
- District-wide or School-wide Days: Scheduled days during the academic year where students do not attend classes, allowing all staff to participate in large-group training or collaborative planning.
- Job-Embedded Learning: Ongoing, classroom-focused coaching and mentoring that happens during the regular school week.
- Professional Learning Communities (PLCs): Small groups of teachers within a grade level or subject who meet regularly to review student data and share best practices.
- External Workshops & Conferences: Specialized training from outside experts or educational organizations.
