The 2023 Alabama Course of Study: Career and Technical Education, Work-Based Learning presents standards designed to prepare students with workforce skills and experiences necessary to secure and hold positions in all types of career paths.

Curriculum: Advertising & Design

The 2023 Alabama Course of Study: Career and Technical Education, Arts, A-V Technology, and Communications presents standards designed to prepare students for the career and technical demands of the future, both in the workplace and in the postsecondary education setting. 

Curriculum: Agriculture

The Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources (AFNR) career cluster of Career and Technical Education represents diverse career pathways in General Agriculture, Animal Science, Environmental Science, Industrial Agriculture, and Plant Science.  In all these programs, courses are project-based and process-oriented, and they promote opportunities for work-based learning. 

Curriculum: Automotive Technology

The 2023 Revised Alabama Course of Study: Career and Technical Education, Transportation, Distribution and Logistics presents standards designed to prepare students for the career and technical demands of the future, both in the workplace and in the postsecondary education setting. 

Curriculum: Aviation

This program prepares students to take the Federal Aviation Administration written, oral, and practical examinations required for certification as an aviation maintenance technician with an air frame endorsement.

Curriculum: Business/ Marketing

The 2021 Alabama Course of Study: Career and Technical Education, Business Management and Administration was developed by educators and business and community leaders to provide a foundation for building quality business management and administration programs across the state. Implementing the content of this document through appropriate instruction will promote students’ exploration and enhance preparation for further study and careers in various business management and administration fields.

The 2022 Alabama Course of Study: Career and Technical Education, Cosmetology and Barbering presents standards designed to prepare students for the career and technical demands of the future, both in the workplace and in the post-secondary education setting. 

Curriculum: Cybersecurity

The 2022 Alabama Course of Study: Career and Technical Education, Information Technology presents standards designed to prepare students for the career and technical demands of the future, both in the workplace and in the postsecondary education setting.

Curriculum: Education & Training

Curriculum: Law Enforcement

The 2020 Alabama Course of Study:  Career and Technical Education, Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security presents standards designed to prepare students for the career and technical demands of the future, both in the workplace and in the postsecondary education setting.  This document contains a challenging set of standards designed to promote students’ engagement and career interests in Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security fields. I encourage each system to use the document in developing local curriculum guides that determine how local school students will achieve and even exceed these standards.

Curriculum: Mechatronics

The Mechatronics program is designed to help students exit the program with hands-on skills and knowledge recognized by industry partners as the key competencies to succeed in the field of mechatronics.

This is a career program designed for students to go directly into the labor market upon completion. 

Curriculum: STEM

Society and the workplace require that Alabama students receive a solid foundation of knowledge, skills, and understanding in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).  The 2020 Alabama Course of Study: Career and Technical Education, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics presents standards designed to prepare students for the career and technical demands of the future, both in the workplace and in the post-secondary education setting.
