Effective October 1, 2026, the federal fee associated with criminal history background checks will increase by $3.00 per applicant. Therefore, the total cost of a criminal history background check processed through the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) will increase by the same amount. The revised fee for an ALSDE criminal history background check will be $47.95 per applicant.
