Mrs. Patty Howard

My name is Patty Howard and I teach ESL (English as a 2nd language) at two schools (Swift and Foley Intermediate). I have been in Baldwin county since Aug. 2006 and I started teaching at Foley Elem in 1st grade. In 2007, an ESL Resource Teacher job opened up and I applied. It made total sense for me to do this job as I am from Puerto Rico & English is my 2nd language. I was born in Puerto Rico at Ramey Air Force base, grew up in a bilingual home, and at age 13, moved to Florida.  I lived in Bradenton, FL for over 20 years where I attended Bayshore High School and got my Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood/Elem. Ed. from the University of South Florida.

I taught different grade levels in Florida such as Pre-K Migrant, ESL (Grades K-2), Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd and Dual Language for a total of 15 yrs.   I moved to Foley in 2006 with my 3 children.  Michelle is 24, married, expecting her first child in Nov., & is a United States Navy Sailor.  Patrick is 21, plays collegiate baseball, a senior at Millsaps College, and hoping to graduate with an Accounting degree.  Natalee is 19, a freshman at Coastal Alabama, and hopes to get a degree from USA in nursing.  I got married to Truman Howard on November 2016.

Helping my ELL students and their families brings fulfillment and purpose to my life!
