Matt Beckett

I've had the priviledge of teaching and coaching at Baldwin County High School since 2006. I teach both Pre-AP Biology and Environmental Science. I also coach both boys and girls Cross Country in the fall and boys Soccer in the spring.

I really didn’t consider teaching as a profession until I attended graduate school. As part of my graduate assistantship, I taught several biology courses, and I quickly fell in love with it. I've not only enjoyed the aspect of teaching the content, but I've also enjoyed getting to know the students at a personal level. And as the years have gone by, I've enjoyed watching them grow and mature into young adults.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family: son-Evan (age 4) , son-Collin (age 4 months), and wife-Lauren (age-not allowed to say! :) ). And when I'm able to find a little alone time, I enjoy hiking (particularly the Appalachain Trail and Pinhoti Trail), birding, and training in and competing in triathlons.
