Mrs. Amanda Major

I teach 12th grade College and Career Ready Senior Project and Senior English. I am the teacher and faculty sponsor for the Foley Lion’s Roar, Foley High School’s online newspaper.

I started teaching at Foley High School in 2008. I tutored the graduation exam for three years, and I taught 10 grade Honors English and 9th and 11th grade Regular English. I have also worked with band classes as I play several brass instruments. The technology I currently utilize most often are Moodle and Wordpress.

I am southern born and educated. I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with B.S. degrees in English and Philosophy. I graduated from the University of South Alabama with a Masters Degree in English Education, and I have completed master level coursework in Education from the University of West Alabama.

I have been married for 25 years to band director and music arranger Carl Major. We have three children which have all attended Foley High School.

In my occasional limited free time, I enjoy reading, walking my three dogs, going to the beach and OWA, watching documentaries on Netflix, window shopping, and hanging out with my family. Life is good, especially when you are on vacation.

If I had a personal motto, it would be “Make good choices!”
