Mr. Sean Ahonen
Mr. Sean Ahonen began teaching and Athletic Training at Foley High School in 2006. He presently teaches Foundations of Health Sciences and Sports Medicine to all grade levels.
- Foundations of Health Sciences is a class that covers the history of healthcare, medical terminology, healthcare skills, among other topics. This class is a prerequisite to take other health sciences class, including the capstone class “Internship”.
- Sports Medicine courses cover Emergency Action Plans, Axial Skeletal systems anatomy and injuries, Appendicular skeletal system anatomy and injuries, among other topics. Students will have to shadow Encore Physical Therapy Assistant one time over the course of the year.
Mr. Ahonen is also in charge of the Sports Medicine extracurricular program. These student work with sports teams to learn to provide exceptional healthcare and rehabilitation shadowing to our student athletes. They must interview with a sports medicine panel early in the second semester before being chosen for the team. The students will then begin working with the football team and Encore Physical Therapy throughout the rest of the calendar year.
