I absolutely love being a Speech Language Pathologist! I am so blessed to have the opportunity to work with such wonderful teachers, children, and their parents here at Daphne Elementary School! I have been assessing and treating the speech and language needs of children for the past 14 years. It is simply amazing to be able to work with children and be there to watch/hear them say their first word, first sentence or produce a sound correctly for the first time! Most people learn to communicate without a conscious effort, not realizing that the acquisition of communication skills is a highly complex task. However, many children require extensive integration of listening skills, mental process, and motor skills.
