Hi, my name is Laura Alms. I am a school counselor at Elberta High School. This is my sixth year in this position. Before moving into the school counseling position, I was a 4th grade teacher at EMS for 13 years. I graduated from Foley High School, then attended the University of South Alabama. In 2008, I earned the National Board Certification for upper elementary teachers. Then, I pursued a masters degree in school counseling and recently completed an EdS degree in school counseling through the University of West Alabama. Yes, I love school, and I love learning!
I am blessed to have a wonderful husband, two daughters, and two beautiful grandsons who will both turn two this year. My favorite past time is going to the beach, camping, and just being outside. I love exercising and practicing yoga. These activities mentally sharpen my saw and take me to my "happy" place!
My mission as a school counselor at EHS is to empower our students to open doors of opportunity for their future. I intend to greet each day and each student with an open mind, open heart, and open hands as we work together at EHS to meet our students academic, social, emotional, and career-ready needs. We are Warrior Proud, and Warrior Strong!!!
