Mrs. Candy Landry

Candy Landry is a native of Chatom, Alabama in Washington County.  She graduated from Washington County High School in 1997 and was the class Salutatorian.  After high school, she moved to Saraland and attended the University of Mobile and graduated Magna Cum Laude where she received a Bachelor’s of Art in English with Teaching Certification for grades 6-12 in Language Arts.  At graduation, Mrs. Landry was also awarded the English Area Award.  In August of 2014, Mrs. Landry completed her Master's Degree for Gifted, Talented, and Creative from Arkansas State University.   Mrs. Landry’s first and only teaching assignment was Elberta Middle School, which began in 2003.  Mrs. Landry taught 6th grade for 9 years before teaching Gifted.   Mrs. Landry gained Emints certification in 2012 and K-6 certification in 2011.  She was selected as Teacher of the Year for middle grades for Elberta Middle in 2013.  

     On a personal note, Mrs. Landry was married to Chuck Landry in 2005, and their daughter Zoe was born in 2007.  Lovers of animals, the family also includes two dogs, two cats, and two ducks.    They reside in Loxley, Alabama.  Mrs. Landry’s hobbies include reading and running.  She completed the National Breast Cancer Marathon in 2009 and the Country Music Half Marathon in 2014.
