Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Gay James
Hi! I am fortunate to be the music teacher at Gulf Shores Elementary School. I graduated with a degree in Music Education from Troy (State) University and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from University of South Alabama. I have taught elementary music in this county since 1997 and also taught 3rd grade for five years. I play piano and organ at First Presbyterian Church in Foley, Alabama where I reside with my husband and son. For many years, I accompanied many shows at the South Baldwin Community Theatre and also currently accompany for the Foley High School Spring Drama Production.
I have taught in many school around the county such as Elberta Elementary and Middle School, Fairhope K-1, Magnolia School, Swift School and Orange Beach Elementary.
I am the director of Dolphin Sound, a group made up of 4th and 5th graders, who play recorder, sing, play Orff instruments and boomwhackers and perform in many places around Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. We meet on Friday afternoons at 2:00 until dismissal.
I am also the current site manager for the after school care program at GSES called Dolphin Pride 21st CCLC. We have over 100 children enrolled and have received a federal grant for three years to provide many outside programs for the children who stay after school with us.
