Personal Bio:

Born in Mobile, Alabama and married 42 years to Leo Jernigan, who is a general dentist in Gulf Shores. I have two sons: The oldest is a professional oboist in New York, the youngest is a musician in New Orleans.

Education:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, University of Alabama in Birmingham

Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing, University of Alabama in Birmingham

Registered Nurse, Certified CPR Instructor for Basic Life Support -Health Care Provider; OSHA certification; EKG instructor; Certified as a an instructor for Mental Health 1st aid.

Experience:

South Baldwin Regional Medical Center- Began in Intensive and Coronary Care, became Director of Education, and served as Director of Nursing Services. Later, developed an independent consulting service for health care administration providing administrative services for home health agencies including staff training, personnel management, clinical tools, and policies and procedures. Over a period of years worked in various other capacities including faculty member with University of West Florida, and provided educational workshops for the Alabama Hospital Association. In addition, served four years on the Alabama Board of Nursing (Governor appointee), and on the Health Promotion and Prevention of Illness Task Force for the Alabama Nurses’ Association.
