Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Ashley Watley
I'm so excited to start a new year teaching at Gulf Shores High School. I have been teaching for the last 14 years. The past 8 years have been with Baldwin County. I graduated from Auburn University in 2004 with a Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education of Social Science. Then, in 2009, I graduated from Troy University with a Masters Degree in Post Secondary Education of Psychology.
I am married to Kevin Watley. We have a three-year-old daughter, a seven-year-old daughter, and I have a twelve-year-old step-son. I love my children, teaching my "other" children at GSHS, and living in Gulf Shores. There are so many opportunities here in Gulf Shores and of course, there is the BEACH. ;)
I was honored, to be awarded the Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction award. I was nominated by a former student, Meagan Bown. She was such a joy to have in class. It's students like her, that make my job so meaningful.
I currently teach Advanced Placement Government & Politics, Honors Economics, Regular Government and Economics, and Psychology Dual Enrollment classes for Coastal Alabama Community College. I teach ACCESS classes online through Troy. Oh, and I'm a Disney Travel Agent on the side. I love Disney and all its magic. :) I also co-sponsor Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), starting this year.
I am a certified Digital Renaissance Leadership Teacher (DRLA), participated in the DEN Ambassador and have been part of many ongoing professional development courses over the past few years.
I am looking forward to a great school year and working with the students at Gulf Shores High School!! Go Dolphins!
