Mrs. Kate Hood

Mrs. Hood graduated from Baldwin County High School as valedictorian in 1996. She then went to the University of Mobile and graduated just three years later with a double major in English and Secondary Education, and a minor in Mathematics. In 2005, she earned a near perfect score on the math PRAXIS exam. This qualifies her to be a Highly Qualifed Teacher for 7-12th grade English and Mathematics. She later received her Master's degree in 2008 from the University of South Alabama in the area of School Counseling.
 
Mrs. Hood has been a teacher at Bay Minette Middle School since 2013, but has taught since 2000. Of those years, she spent all but one them teaching mathematics. She has the following additional certifications: eMINTS, Google Level I, AMSTI 7th grade mathematics, and Laying the Foundation AP Algebra. In 2018, Mrs. Hood was selected as one of the Alabama recepients of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.
 
She lives in the Bay Minette area with her husband, Brian, and five children: Katelyn (18), Aidan (16), Grace (14) and twins William and Alana (9). She is a member of First Baptist Church Bay Minette.
