Mrs. Hood graduated from Baldwin County High School as valedictorian in 1996. She then went to the University of Mobile and graduated just three years later with a double major in English and Secondary Education, and a minor in Mathematics. She later received her Master's degree in 2008 from the University of South Alabama in the area of School Counseling.

Mrs. Hood has been a teacher at Bay Minette Middle School since 2013, but has taught since 2000. Of those years, she spent all but one them teaching mathematics. She has the following additional certifications: eMINTS, Google Level I, and AMSTI 7th grade mathematics. She will be receiving LTF certification this summer.

She lives in the Bay Minette area with her husband, Brian, and five children: Katelyn (16), Aidan (14), Grace (11) and twins William and Alana (7). She is a member of First Baptist Church Bay Minette.

She currently sponsors the Beta Club and manages the school's Facebook page.
