Degrees and Certifications:
I grew up in Pensacola, Florida, and graduated from the University of West Florida. My Bachelor's Degree is in Special Education/Learning Disabilities and Elementary Education. This year I will be completing my 20th year teaching. During my first six years, I taught Special Education exclusively to students in grades K-5, and then transitioned over to first grade in the general education classroom. I have been teaching first grade for the last 12 years. I absolutely love watching the students learn how to read. They get so excited when they learn something new and it is such a blessing to see their pride and love of learning.
My family and I relocated to Foley, Alabama, in 2006. My high school sweetheart and I got married in 1993. We have one daughter that attends Auburn University. She is truly our pride and joy. We have enjoyed sharing the college experience with her and cannot wait to see what her future holds. In my free time I enjoy snorkeling and going to the beach. I also love all things Disney. Several years ago, I was blessed with the opportunity to become a Disney vacation planner and truly enjoy doing that in my spare time.
In 2012, I obtained my Master's degree through Grand Canyon University. My degree is in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Instructional Technology. I have a passion for technology and have been learning new ways to incorporate it into my class. Teaching the students new ways to learn reading and math through technology is something I strive to do in my classroom as much as possible.
