This will be my 5th year to teach 7th Grade Math at SFMS! I absolutely LOVE it! I feel so blessed going to work each day. SF Middle School is absolutely the BEST EVER!!!
In 1996, I graduated from the University of Mobile with an Early Childhood/Elementary Education degree and married my husband, Mike Sorrell. I taught Pre-k, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and Gifted Education during the next 6 years. All of these experiences were in Mobile County Public Schools, including Fonde Elementary, Maryvale Elementary, and E.R. Dickson Elementary. In 1999, I received a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from the Univ. of Mobile.
In 2001, our son, Taylor was born. He is now a 10th grader at SFHS. At that time, I resigned from MCPSS to be a stay-at-home mom. Two years later, Madison, our daughter, was born, and I continued to stay home with our children until 2009 when I began doing some interim teaching jobs and long-term substituting. Madison is currently an 8th grader here at SFMS. In 2012, I accepted a part-time position at SFMS as a Reading Intervention teacher and began studying for the Praxis II Exam for Middle School Mathematics. In 2013, I passed the test and was able to graciously accept a full-time teaching position as a 7th Grade Math teacher!
My husband and I have now been married for 21 years, live in Spanish Fort Estates, and have 2 kids, and 2 dogs, Skipper and Petunia.
