Mrs. Laura Moorer
My Name is Laura (Johnson) Moorer. I grew up in Cross Roads and now reside in White House Fork with my husband of 29 years, Shain Moorer. I have two grown children, Jacob and Abby and one precious granddaughter, RiverKate.
Bay Minette has always been my hometown and I’m a proud 1985 graduate of Baldwin County High School. My college experience includes Faulkner State Jr. College before transferring to the University of South Alabama where I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science Elementary Education in 1991 and a Master’s of Science Elementary Education in 1994. In 1997, I completed my AA Certification in Elementary Education at Alabama State University and then received my Educational Leadership Certification from the University of South Alabama in 2011.
I began my career as a teacher at Pine Grove School in 1991. After 21 years, I moved into an administrator position at Daphne Middle School working as an assistant principal for three years. Afterwards, I was appointed principal at Elberta Elementary School where I worked for three years. I am blessed to have the opportunity to be back at home serving my hometown at BMES.
I entered the field of education because I’ve always had a servant’s heart. Being an educator and an administrator is a demanding job on any given day but I’ve never regretted the choice to become part of the education profession.
I believe the most important part of a school principal’s day is making time to interact with the students, develop relationships and visit classrooms to see instruction. This year, we will celebrate by moving into a brand new school facility. Our city and surrounding communities have waited on this opportunity for a long while. This will be a year to remember!
