Ms. Dana Craig

Hi! My name is Ms. Dana Craig and I am proud to be a 5th grade Math and Science (and some History) teacher for the 2017-2018 school year! I have been teaching at GSES since 2002, with a short absence when I was blessed with the opportunity to complete an internship as a Math Specialist with AMSTI USA. I also spent 3 months in Arizona as an 8th Grade Math and Honors Algebra I teacher. I have dedicated my professional learning over the last 13 years to research behind the development and acquisition of mathematic concepts and skills. I have developed quite a collection of research in this area and use this research to drive my instruction. I am so excited to have the opportunity to spend this year with your child and help them reach their full potential!

I was lucky enough to grow up in Gulf Shores and attend GSES when it was a brand new school. Believe it or not, all grades K-6 were in the 100 building! The 200 building was built as a middle school back in those days so that 7th and 8th grade students did not have to commute to Foley! I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to give back to a community that means so much to me!

I have a one grown daughter, Breanna. She is married with 2 sweet bonus children and my first biological grandbaby, Cassidy Leigh, just turned one on July 22! I’m one proud Day-Day! I am also raising my 12-year-old nephew, Gage. We spend our time together playing Pokémon Go, reading, doing science experiments, swimming, and spending time with family.
