Mrs. Kelly Nielsen
My name is Kelly McKinney Nielsen. I received my bachelor's degree in special education from Auburn University in 1985. My degree specialty is working with emotionally disturbed students. I received my master's degrees from the University of South Alabama in special education in the areas of both learning disabilities and emotional disturbance (K-12). After serving as the math special education inclusion teacher at Greenville High School for six years, I was able to obtain highly qualified certification for teaching middle school mathematics in 2014. I learned so many teaching styles from some of the best teachers I know. I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching math.
I grew up in Mobile, Alabama, and lived in Point Clear during the summer months, developing affection for Baldwin County. My husband, John, grew up in Evergreen. We raised our daughters, Mary Ryan (27) and Sarah (25), in that small town. We moved to Baldwin County in 2011, as my husband embarked on a new career.
I am currently serving as the RTI Coordinator and teach 7th and 8th grade math. I love teaching at Daphne Middle, it is a special place for our students to thrive.

I believe that success is getting each student to enjoy math, and to benefit from a lifelong love of learning.
