My name is Jan Gay and this is my third year as the school counselor at Summerdale School. I look forward to working with you and your child to help promote a wonderful school year full of success both academically and emotionally. As a school counselor I provide classroom guidance, group counseling, responsive services, community resources, and referrals to community mental health and consultations. I am available to meet with parents to discuss their child's needs. This year parents will receive an email providing information on the classroom guidance lessons taught throughout the year.
Summerdale School received the Bronze RAVE (Recognition of Accountablity, Verification and Excellence) Award in 2017 and the Silver RAVE award in 2018 at the Alabama Counseling Association Conference for the comprehensive counseling program. I was selected as the 2018 ASA Sparks New Counselor of the Year for the Alabama School Counseling Association.
