I am honored to be a member of the Summerdale School Family. I come to you with 29 years of experience as an educator, the last 12 as an elementary school principal, and 2 before that as a middle/high school assistant principal.
I previously served students, families, and educators as the principal of Gulf Shores Elementary School for three years. During the first year there, the state report card score grew from an 81 to a 91 and the second year rose to 92. Before moving to Baldwin County, I served the students and community of Arley, Alabama for twenty-six years. The last nine years in Arley, at Meek Elementary, were spent as the principal of Meek Elementary School. While there, we were awarded as one of the top 10 Rural Schools in Alabama. The two years before that I was an assistant principal at Meek High School for half the day, while teaching sixth grade math and science the rest of the day. The remaining fifteen years at Meek were spent teaching sixth graders in all subject areas as well as fifth grade writing and English.
My daughter, Kim, will be in the eleventh grade and is a varsity cheerleader at Gulf Shores High School. She has cheered on competition teams, plays soccer, runs track, and loves to spend time at the beach. My son, Sean, earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from the University of South Alabama in Mobile. He has opened a Performance Physical Therapy Clinic, VP2R, in Birmingham and will be getting married August 10.
I look forward to a fantastic year of working with the Summerdale community, faculty, and students. Thank you for welcoming me to your beautiful community.
