Mr. Michael Roy

Michael Roy is beginning his 10th year in the teaching profession.  He is starting his third year at Foley after serving as Director of Bands for seven years at the Houston R-1 School District in Houston, Mo.  Mr. Roy received his Bachelor’s in Music Education degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La.  He received his Master’s in Educational Administration from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo. Mr. Roy is currently working toward his Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction and his Education Doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky.

While in college, Mr. Roy was a member of the LSU Concert Bands, Jazz Ensemble, The Golden Band from Tigerland, and LSU Trombone Choir.  Outside of school, he marched in 2004 and 2005 with the Drum Corps International (DCI) Division 2 World Finalist Memphis Sound Drum and Bugle Corps where he served as Horn Sergeant in 2005.  He also marched euphonium with the 2006 and 2008 DCI Division 1 World Champion Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps.  

Mr. Roy is an avid marching instructor and drill writer having worked field and indoor shows for schools in Louisiana, Missouri, and Alabama.  Mr. Roy just completed his first season on brass staff with the DCI Open Class Finalist Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps.

At Foley High School, Mr. Roy teaches all guitar classes, trombone choir, low brass ensemble, and team teaches the Mighty Band from Lionland and Symphonic Band with his esteemed colleagues.

Mr. Roy is married to Paula with her son, Paul.  They have two dogs named Renee and Gustav.
