Ms. June Evans, 7th Grade Gifted Social Studies

Welcome! I am so glad to be returning to Baldwin County this year, but especially proud to be a Fairhope Pirate! This will be my twenty-fourth year to teach, but my first year to teach in Fairhope. I attended George County High School, Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College, and the University of Southern Mississippi, where I obtained my undergraduate and masters degree in elementary education. My teaching experience began in Mississippi at Poplarville Lower Elementary as a resource teacher, and then a first grade teacher.  I then went to Stone Elementary in Wiggins and taught first grade, second grade, and after I returned from being home with my two children, I was the media specialist for one year. I then attended Mississippi College to obtain my gifted certification, and taught 6th grade gifted at George County Middle School. From there, my two children and I moved to Daphne. I taught gifted at Spanish Fort Middle for thirteen years, as well as 6th grade science, social studies, reading, language, 8th grade computer skills, and even PE! I have coached volleyball, basketball, and track. I sponsored scholar's bowl and was the dance team sponsor for four years. My students have participated in various community service projects, partnered with residents at Westminster Village for mentoring and first person interviews, and have placed consistently in the Library of Congress Letters about Literature contest, where we had several state winners. My students also participated and placed well in the Great American Cardboard Race. Last year, I moved to Hattiesburg to be with my son for his senior year. I taught 5th grade ELA, Science, and Social Studies at Thames Elementary.

When I'm not at school, I enjoy playing tennis, listening to live music,  and spending time with my family and friends. I also referee high school, USAV, and AAU volleyball, as well as girls softball. I am a huge fan of the water, so any chance I get to be at the beach, bay, or river, I'm there.

This year at Fairhope Middle, I am teaching 7th grade gifted, civics, and geography. Our students will be participating the National Geography Bee, the Stock Market Challenge, and we plan to bring the Great American Cardboard Boat Race back. I welcome any opportunity from the community to be of service in any way we can, and it would be great to have speakers visit our classes. I am  looking forward to a great year with my students at Fairhope Middle!
