Mr. Bradley Blackmon

My name is Bradley Blackmon and I will be teaching 8th grade Advanced and Regular World History at SFMS. I will also be the head football coach. I am husband to Laura Blackmon, who is a recently retired educator of 26 years. I am also the proud father of a son, Bree, who will be in the 7th grade here at SFMS and a daughter, Mary Michael, who will be starting 3rd grade at Elberta Elementary.

I am a 1995 graduate of Foley High School and a 2008 graduate of the University of South Alabama. I started my teaching career at Gulf Shores High School in 2012, where I taught 9th through 11th grade history. When I was at GSHS I was also the head football coach at Gulf Shores Middle School where our team finished with a 5-3 record.

In 2013 I transferred to Elberta Middle School where I spent 4 1/2 years. While at Elberta, I was the offensive coordinator for the EMS football team. During during my tenure at EMS, our record was 30-2 with four consecutive county championships. I also coached 7th and 8th grade boys basketball where we finished as runners up twice during that span. My first year at Spanish Fort as an assistant coach the Toros finished 7-0 and won their first ever county championship.

As a teacher I am A+ College Ready trained for teaching advanced World History and was a part of the inaugural Digital Renaissance Teachers Academy in 2013. I love history and I plan on making our class fun and interesting. We will have some projects as well as look at history from the perspective of historians, investigating many cultures and countries that make our world interesting! I believe that it is my duty to present the course of study in a diverse way to suit all types of learning styles.

GO TOROS!
