Mr. Josh Cockrell

My name is Josh Cockrell, and I am the band director at Elberta High School and Elberta Elementary School where I teach the high school marching band, high school concert band, high school jazz band, 7/8 grade intermediate band, and beginning 6th grade band.  This is a very exictiing time for the band at Elberta as it is becoming its own band, and I am looking forward to seeing the progress and growth for the next years to come.

My student teaching internship took place with Carroll High School and Smith Middle School in Ozark, AL.  I completed my internship at Troy Elementary School in Troy, AL.  I began teaching in January of 2007 at Brantley High School in Brantley, AL.  I remained there until I moved to Flomaton High School in Flomaton, AL in July 2012.  After spending five years at Flomaton, I was invited to come to Elberta to begin the new high school band.

I graduated with an honors diploma from Dothan High School in Dothan, AL in 2002.  From there, I attended Troy University in Troy, AL where I earned my bachelor's degree in Music Education and gradutated summa cum laude.  I am currently working towards my master's degree in Music Education with the University of Florida.

I currently reside in Atmore, AL with my wife Hayley (who is also a band director) and our two dogs, Alucard and Murdoc.
