Becky Tomaso
I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. I have been an educator for twenty-three years. I began my teaching career at Fairhope Elementary School teaching second grade. After twelve years of teaching, I took a leave of absence to be home with my family.
During this time, I had the opportunity to teach at the college level. I was an adjunct professor at the University of South Alabama. I taught several courses such as teaching science, classroom management, and foundations of education. I also supervised students in the field. Working part time for South Alabama really cemented my love for education. Having the opportunity to guide and mentor future teachers has been one of the highlights of my career. I feel led to become a leader and mentor for others.
Now that my children are in college, I am now back in Baldwin County Schools. I love working full time once again. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades before moving to my current position. I will be the Reading Coach for Robertsdale High School teaching fundamental reading skills to students. I am looking forward to the opportunity to have an engaging fun class where students have choices in their reading materials as we work together to meet their individual goals.
I am married to Mike Tomaso, a police officer in Elberta and have two college aged children. Maddie is a second year medical student at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and Michael is a sophomore at Virginia Military Institute. I spend time with my husband and our family dog on our boat as much as I can. Chief, our golden retriever loves the water!
One quote that I love dearly is from Saint Mother Teresa. “You can do with I can not do. I can do what you can not do. Together we can do great things!”
