Hello! My name is Stephanie Gilmore. I live in Spanish Fort, Alabama. I have two grown children, Lydia and Luke and one grandchild, Lilleigh (pronounced Lilly). Lydia is busy working and raising Lilleigh and Luke is busy at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I love to read, sit on the beach and spend time with my precious family. So, the perfect day is in my beach chair with a great book watching my kids play in the surf.

I have a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education from the University of South Alabama and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction. Teaching was my second career. I was a nurse before obtaining my degree in education. I have been teaching for 18 years. I am currently teaching first grade at Summerdale School. I have taught eighth, seventh, sixth, fourth, third and first grades, with first grade being my favorite. I have taught 1^st grade for six years. I love to see the huge progress first graders make in becoming readers and mathematicians! They are little sponges, absorbing as much as you want to teach them. Their precious little faces bright with excitement with learning something new makes my job worth it!
