New Door Buzzer
This is a follow-up from the School Messenger E-mail that went out Monday that we would send out our final protocol for our new front door buzzer system on Friday. Baldwin County installed these buzzers on all school campuses.
From getting to know the system this week, we feel the following will best serve our parents, students, and staff and will be strictly adhered to beginning Monday, March 12, 2018.
- The front door will remain locked throughout the day.
- All parents and visitors, regardless of whether it is 7:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., or 3:00 p.m. will need to enter through the front door after pressing the buzzer. So, even though you may feel that you can walk right in with students or teachers in the morning when so many are entering, we need you to observe the buzzer system. Staff will be close by to remind everyone.
- All staff are asked to check all visitors for their visitor stickers (confirming they have been to the office first). If a visitor does not have a sticker, they will be asked to go to the office or speak with our resource officer.
- To save parents time and the trouble of having to go back to their car or home, we ask that parents always have their driver’s license or other ID with them as they will need it to check out their children or proceed further into the school with a visitor’s pass. Our office staff will ask you to hold your ID up to the camera above the buzzer before entering.
Short version of this notice: always press buzzer and hold up your ID to enter the school, proceed to office to sign in and obtain a visitor’s pass or conduct office business.
Baldwin County is also working on plans for some additional security measures for our campus. We will communicate these to you as details are known.
Thank you for your patience throughout this transition.
This communication has been sent out as a School Messenger E-mail, a note home, placed on our facebook page, and posted to our school site.
