Letter from our Principal, Ms. Beard
I am thrilled to introduce myself as the Principal of Robertsdale Elementary. This is my 16th year in education, and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this community. During my years as a classroom teacher, I taught multiple grades as well as served as a Reading Coach. I moved to Baldwin County in 2013, and have been privileged to work in some of the wonderful Baldwin County schools which include Foley Elementary, Silverhill, J.L. Newton, and Gulf Shores. For the last three years, I have served as one of the Assistant Principals at Foley Elementary.
I am a native of a very small town in Alabama located in the heart of the Black Belt. I grew up like many of you, both on a farm and in the woods logging with my Dad. I have two children, Madalyn 19, and John Dawson 17. We moved to Baldwin County because of the advanced academics, opportunity, and community. My children and I live in Gulf Shores with our sweet white lab Daisy Duke. We enjoy spending time at the beach, walking, planting flowers, and being on the water.
My educational background is a bit different from most educators. I obtained a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a Marketing minor, a master's degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, and a master's degree in Educational Leadership all from the University of West Alabama. I have continued to pursue my education with an Educational Specialist in Instructional Leadership, of which I will graduate at the end of July from the University of Alabama. I have been accepted into the doctoral program and will begin my coursework in the fall at The University of Alabama, “Roll Tide”. To say that I believe in education is an understatement. You are never too old to learn, and it’s the one thing no one can ever take from you!
As a leader, I want people to know who I am as a person. I am the one who is most often smiling at the front doors of the school. Relationships, positive work environments, and academic excellence are my focus for our school. I want all of my students, faculty, and staff to know that I believe in them, and they will succeed. We are all leaders, and I intend to continue the work as a newly recognized Leader in Me Lighthouse School. The goal is to support the needs of all students, both academically and emotionally. I am committed to providing a safe, positive, and encouraging learning environment. It is my hope that my positive attitude will spark each and every student who walks through the doors of Robertsdale Elementary.
I am honored to be a part of the amazing team you have here at Robertsdale. We will be ready to inspire, encourage, and grow leadership. I hope that you enjoy the rest of your summer, and I look forward to welcoming you into our school in August.
