Essay Contest: What Veteran's Day Means To Me

VETERAN'S DAY ESSAY CONTEST: The USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park along with Mobile Bay Area Veterans Day Commission would like to announce the 2021 Veterans Day Essay Contest. The contest will be open to all Fourth Grade students in Mobile and Baldwin counties. All schools can participate in the contest.
 
The theme of the essay contest is "What Veteran's Day Means to Me." Essays should include the student's name, teacher's name, and school name on the essay title page. The deadline for all essay submission is Friday, October 28, 9:00 a.m. Essays should be scanned and emailed to rdavis@ussalabama.com or faxed to USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park at 251-433-2777.
 
Due to delayed deliveries by the US Post Office, we are asking that essays are not mailed. The Veterans Day essays will be scored by a panel of judges and three winners will be selected from the Mobile and Baldwin County schools. The winners will be selected and announced before Veterans Day. The 1st Place winners, and their parents, will be invited to attend the Mobile Bay Area Veterans Day Luncheon on November 11, at Ft. Whiting Auditorium and recognized during the Veterans Day program.
 
Winners will also receive the following: 1st place winners will receive $200, 2nd place winners will receive $150, and 3rd place winners will receive $100. In addition, each winner will earn $100 for their classroom. Questions: email rdavis@ussalabama.com.
