Harbor Freight Tools For Schools Awards $100,000

$100,000 AWARDED: Congratulations to Scott Larson, who was named a grand prize winner of the Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence this morning.
 
Larson, a carpentry and construction teacher at North Baldwin Center for Technology in Bay Minette, AL, won $100,000 for his school’s program. A total of $1.5 million is being awarded to 25 high school skilled trades teachers nationwide.
 
“I teach 21st Century skills - teamwork, problem-solving, and critical and creative thinking. I work hard to instill a love of learning in my students and encourage them to be lifelong learners,” Larson said.
On hand for the check presentation were Sarah Brown from Tools For Schools, Commissioner Matt McKenzie from the Baldwin County Commission, BCBE Senior Staff members, local community leaders, and the staff and students from NBCT.
