Misty Wilkinson named principal of Stonebridge Elementary
LONGTIME BALDWIN COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS’ PRINCIPAL EXCITED TO WELCOME STUDENTS TO THE NEW STONEBRIDGE ELEMENTARY.
Superintendent Eddie Tyler is proud to announce Misty Wilkinson as the principal of the new Stonebridge Elementary School. Wilkinson has been principal of Loxley Elementary School for the past eight years. During her time there, Loxley Elementary was named a Franklin Covey “Leader in Me” School.
Wilkinson graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Elementary Education and attended the University of South Alabama where she obtained her Master of Education in Educational Administration. She taught at Spanish Fort Elementary for eleven years before becoming an assistant principal at Foley Elementary.
“I am beyond excited. Over the last eight years, I have grown a lot as an administrator. I have been in awe at the trust and family that the Loxley community has grown into,” Wilkinson wrote of her Loxley Elementary family.
She added, “The task of beginning a new school is very exciting and is also challenging. The culture of the school is so important. Stonebridge will start from the beginning as a Leader in Me school to help build the climate and culture into a family atmosphere. I also enjoy the planning and organizing aspect and I am looking forward to seeing the school community take shape. I am humbled that I am a part of this wonderful opportunity.”
Stonebridge Elementary will open its doors for the first time to students in the fall of 2022. It is funded by the successful “Pay As You Go” program unique to Baldwin County. Stonebridge Elementary is just one of several projects being built through this program where construction costs will be paid off completely in a four-year period without any long-term bonds or additional taxes.
