May 20 - Spring Event Update

Good Evening.

Here are some updates on the events scheduled for this spring.

Due to social distancing parameters we are going to have to cancel our prom for this year.   We were hoping things would improve as we moved toward summer, but it appears social gatherings of this scale will not be possible within the next month.  We will begin the refund process as soon as possible.  Refunds will be mailed with report cards for underclassmen and will be mailed with diplomas for Seniors.  We apologize for this inconvenience.

Baccalaureate Services and Awards night will not be held for our class of 2020.   Due to the size of the class and the number of participants in each of these ceremonies we do not have a facility to host either of these events.  All schools in Baldwin County are doing the same.

Moving on to graduation.

We will have a graduation on the field.  There will be no graduation practice.  We will provide each senior with an envelope next Friday, May 29th, that will have instructions, 4 guest tickets, 5 programs, honor cords / medals, address correction card, and a card with their name and honors as it will be read on graduation night.  Pickup will be in the cafeteria from 8 - 11 and 12 - 5.  If you cannot make that time please contact me to make arrangements to pick this packet up on the morning of June 1. (email

We will forward out details on seating and senior instructions in future emails and on the school website and Facebook.  We also plan on live streaming the event and will have more details on that as the date approaches.

Here is a link to an insert provided by Josten's to go in Senior graduation invitations.  We apologize that we did not have time to have them printed and distributed through our graduation supplier.

As the parent of a Senior, I understand first hand the disappointment of our Seniors and truly hate that our kids will miss so much of their Senior year.  But at the same time we are grateful we are allowed to hold graduation on the field many of us have graduated on and we are grateful for our kids to have a semblance of our historic graduation ceremony.   The class of 2020 has been an amazing group of students and  they will always hold a special place in our hearts for the way they have handled this situation with grace and resilience.  We are looking forward to seeing them all on June 1st!
