Congratulations to Mrs. Ashley Lathan, FMS Teacher of the Year 2019/2020!

The faculty of Fairhope Middle School have selected Mrs. Ashley Lathan as Teacher of the Year. She teaches 7th grade regular and advanced math. After receiving a B.S. in Secondary Mathematics Education from Auburn University in December of 2002, Mrs. Lathan began her teaching career at Foley High School. She taught Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebraic Connections for nine years. As a long time resident of Fairhope, she wanted to be closer to home so she transferred to Fairhope Middle where she has taught since 2011. She and her husband have been married for thirteen years and have eleven year old twins. Brady and Madison.

Since joining Fairhope Middle School's faculty, Mrs. Lathan has served as a cheerleading sponsor, a Builder's Club sponsor, and has coordinated the annual Pirate Princess Pageant. Mrs. Lathan believes that all kids are unique and have something special to offer. "I look for that in each student who walks through my door."

Again, congratulations to Mrs. Lathan!
