New Head Coach Announced for Foley Lady Lions Soccer

 By: Tyson Reed (Foley, AL)

Foley High School is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Terry Stefankiewicz as the Head Coach of the Lady Lions Soccer Team. “Soccer is becoming an increasingly important sport in our community,” said Principal Russ Moore, “and I believe Coach Stefankiewicz has the experience and ability to take this great program to new heights.”

Stefankiewicz has been coaching men’s and women’s soccer for more than 30 years, including the University of St. Francis, Indiana-Purdue of Fort Wayne (IPFW), and most recently, Trine University where he served 10 years as the Women’s Soccer Head Coach. He led teams from St. Francis and IPFW to NAIA and NCAA playoffs and his 1999 IPFW men’s team was ranked No. 8 in the NCAA Division II poll. That same season he was nominated for the National Soccer Coaches Association’s Division II Coach of the Year and was inducted into the Indiana Soccer Hall of Fame in 2004.

“We are proud to have Coach Stefankiewicz on our athletics staff,” said Coach Sally Jeter, Associate Athletic Director. “His coaching philosophy aligns with what we are trying to achieve in all our programs and it very much matches our school’s mission to be committed to excellence in all we do.” Stefankiewicz replied, “I am happy to be part of this community and am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead this program at Foley High. I love working with young athletes and helping them develop into the best they can be on and off the field.”
